Also known as Dokog Chu, the Do Chu is a main river in the eastern part of Golok. It flows southwards to its confluence with the Ser Chu. Further south, it merges with the Mar Chu, at which point it becomes known as the Gyalrong Gyalmo Ngul Chu (Ch. Dadu), itself a major tributary of the Dri Chu (Ch. Yangtzé). As such, the Do Chu is an indirect tributary of the Dri Chu (Ch. Yangtzé).
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
