Located on the left bank of the Mar Chu, just downstream of Paltang and opposite to Chaktsé Tak, Bater Drak (‘The Red cliff of Upper Mar’) is one of the places where in 1859 Düdjom Lingpa revealed one khajang of the Zabsang Khandro Nyingtik terma cycle.
The other locations of these khajangs—all located on the banks of the Mar Chu— are Tsunmo Ngulgö Drak, Gyédro Potsong Chorten, Gyédro Chorten, Tashi Gomang, and Chakri Öbar.

Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
