Khajang
In the terma tradition, Khajangs are the prophecies and instructions to the Tertöns before they discover each of the termas they are connected with. Khajangs inform them that they are Tertöns, how, where, and when the termas have been concealed, and how, where, and when they will be discovered, and who will be the support (or consort), chödak (doctrine-holder) and main disciples of this terma. Khajangs also indicate how and when to perform the preparatory practices, decode the symbolic scripts and practice, and spread the teachings. Sometimes, Tertöns receive Khajang from manifestations of Guru Rinpoche or of sages, from a dakini or a Dharma protector in person, or in a vision. (Tulku Thöndup).
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
