Yungdrung Chaktsé (Deity)
One of the twenty-five Zodor (local protectors) of Tibet, Yungdrung Chaktsé is one of the three main local protectors of Golokpas, along with Machen Pomra and Nyenpo Yutsé (Deity). Yungdrung Chaktsé (‘Exalted Iron Peak of the Eternal Swastika’) resides in the mountain of Yungdrung Chaktsé, which rises above the upper Mar Chu Valley, in Golok’s far southeast. This area is known as Martö Rizi, formerly within Wangchen Bum, one of Golok’s original territories connected with the Horkor tribe.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
