Nyenpo Yutsé (Deity)
Inhabiting the stunning mountain range of same name (Nyenpo Yutsé), Nyenpo Yutsé (Deity) is both the shidak (lord of the land) and a main chökyong (dharma protector) of Golok. Inhabiting the mountain peak of over 5300 meters, Nyenpo Yutsé, the ‘Powerful one of the Turquoise Peak’, features a red body shielded by a golden helmet and armor, and rides a yellowish horse with a turquoise mane. The Golok clan identifies with Nyenpo Yutsé as their ancestor.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
