A major river of Serta, the Da Chu rises in Dzachukha (the valley of the Dza Chu), to the east of Sershul, in the northern and western part of outer Golok.
The Da Chu Valley runs parallel to the Nyi Chu Valley, from north to south throughout the area.
The valley of the Da Chu is named Dakok. Along with the Nyi Chu, the Da Chu is one of the tributaries of the Nyak Chu (Ch. Xianshui River), which gives the name to the Nyakrong region.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
