A direct descendant of the younger brother of Düdjom Lingpa, Chöjé Dampa Jikmé Püntsok (1937-2004) was recognized as an incarnation of Tertön Sogyal Lérab Lingpa (1856-1926) and an emanation of Jü Mipam Namgyal Gyatso (1846-1912).
Starting in the early 1980’s, he played an extremely important role in the revival of Buddhism in Tibet after the Cultural Revolution, notably by founding Larung Gar on the Lama Rung site established by Düdjom Lingpa in 1880, on the banks of the Ser Chu.
