Located sixty kilometers north of the sacred mountain of Amnyé Machen, Drak Kar Treldzong ('The White Cliff Monkey Fortress') is a sacred pilgrimage site, in Amdo, very close to the informal northern boundary of Golok.

The cliff is filled with sacred caves where many great masters have practiced, like Guru Rinpoché, Yéshé Tsogyal, and Zhabkar Tsokdruk Rangdrol.

In 1902, Trülku Drimé Özer was sent by his father Düdjom Lingpa to Drak Kar Treldzong to reveal termas there.

Apang Tertön also revealed termas in Drak Kar Treldzong.

In 1917, Déwé Dorje left Pennak and journeyed to Drak Kar Dreldzong, as she knew the Khandro Gongpa Düpé Chöter could be revealed there. But due to the auspicious conditions having not been gathered, she had to leave the terma there.
