Chutsang
A tribe based around a village of the same name west of Lama Rung, Chutsang is located on the banks of the Yakog Chu, a tributary of the Nyi Chu.
Like the Nyi Chu itself, the Yakog Chu valley maintained little cultural connection to Serta, the Ser Chu region. Instead, tensions frequently erupted between tribes of the Ser Chu and those along the Nyi Chu and its tributaries, manifesting in cycles of theft and armed conflict that defined inter-valley relations.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
