Chakri Öbar
lcags ri ‘od ‘bar
Chakri Öbar ('The Iron Mountain of Blazing Light') is a sacred little hill along the Mar Chu, in Péma Bum, in Golok.
In the 1860’s, Düdjom Lingpa resided in the area with his consort Traza Sönam Tso (1845?-1867), who gave birth there to their son Dodrubchen Jikmé Tenpé Nyima (1865-1926).
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
