To the southeast of inner Golok stands the isolated Nyenpo Yutsé range, which is part of the Bayen Khala Rakmo. The massif embraces more than fourteen towering (all higher than 5,000 m) craggy, snow-covered peaks, among them the highest is 5,369m. This sacred place is celebrated both for its splendor and its imposing appearance, which makes it possibly one of the most beautiful places in all of the northern Tibetan Plateau.

Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
