Namkha Khyung Dzong
nam mkha' khyung rdzong/
Namkha Khyung Dzong ('The Sky Garuda Fortress') is the Dharma encampment founded by Péma Dégyal— one of the main students of Dudjom Lingpa—on the slopes of Gang Rinpoché (Mount Kailash).
The place is located to the south of Mount Kailash, near the source of the Karnali river, in Western Tibet.
Till 1959, the community followed a strict regime of retreat intersected with extensive teaching phases, from then on, it relocated to the south in Humla Nepal as well as Orissa, India.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
