Mukpo Dong
The Mukpo Dong is one of the four main branches of the Dong ancestral clan, one of the Four Great Ancestral Clans of Tibet.
The Mukpo Dong descends from Gésar of Ling, the legendary Tibetan warrior-king. The members of the Mukpo Dong are particularly associated with the Kham region of eastern Tibet, and the clan has produced countless important Buddhist masters and lineage holders, including notable figures like Dza Paltrül Orgyen Jikmé Chökyi Wangpo (1808-1897) and Chögyam Trungpa (1939-1987).
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
