Longchenpa (1308-1364) was one of the most brilliant teachers of the Nyingma lineage. He systematized the entirety of the Nyingma teachings in his Dzö Dün (‘Seven Treasures’) and wrote extensively on Dzogchen.
In a vision through which he appeared to Rigdzin Jikmé Lingpa, he transmitted the Longchen Nyingtik cycle of teachings and practices, which has since become one of the most widely practiced Nyingma traditions.
Düdjom Lingpa several times announced to his students that his son, Trülku Drimé Özer, was an emanation of Longchenpa.
