Lobzang Do Ngak Chökyi Gyatso
A disciple of Tertön Sogyal Lérab Lingpa and Amdo Géshé Jampal Rolwé Lodrö, Lobzang Do Ngak Chökyi Gyatso (1903-1957) was recognized as an incarnation of Alak Do Ngak Gyatso.
He wrote several works comparing the view of Dzogchen with that of Mahamudra and Highest Yoga Tantra, and a commentary on the Ornament of the Middle Way.
His writings, such as the Sangngak Sarnying gi Tawa Chiktu Drubpa Daknang Norbü Melong (‘The Jewelled Mirror of Pure Perception: Establishing the Single View of the Old and New Traditions of Secret Mantra’), are remarkable for their attempt to synthesize the views of the Nyingma and the Sarma tantras, and to explain the terminology of each in the light of the other.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
