Jamyang Khyentsé Wangpo
An extraordinary tertön, scholar, and Rimé meditation master of Tibetan Buddhism, Jamyang Khyentsé Wangpo (1820–1892) dedicated his life to preserving and propagating all Buddhist traditions.
Regarded as the combined reincarnation of Vimalamitra and Chögyal Trisong Déutsen, he became the founder of the Rimé (ecumenical) movement with his contemporaries, Chokgyur Déchen Lingpa (1829-1870) and Jamgön Kongtrul Lodrö Tayé (1813-1899).
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
