Jadral
Appearance
Literally meaning "free from activity" or "one who has abandoned worldly concerns", Jadral designates a yogin or yogini who has wholly renounced the obligations, accumulations, and entanglements of conventional life. A jadral holds no institutional position, accepts no material offerings, and remains unbounded by the social and religious duties that structure ordinary monastic or lay existence.
In the Nyingma tradition of Kham particularly, it carries the highest informal recognition of authentic realization, marking a practitioner whose conduct testifies to inner freedom rather than acquired rank: a living embodiment of the Dzogchen view in which all elaboration has been naturally released.
