Dungsé Thinley Norbu
A prominent Nyingma lineage teacher and eldest son of Düdjom Jigdrel Yeshe Dorje, Dungsé Thinley Norbu (1931-2011) was recognized as an incarnation of Trülku Drimé Özer and considered an emanation of Longchenpa.
Serving as a main Düdjom Tersar lineage holder after his training in Tibet, after living in Bhutan he eventually settled in New York, where he gathered students and authored numerous books in English.
His sons include Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentsé and Dungsé Garab Dorjé.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
