In the terma tradition, Drombu is a casket made of precious gems, metals, wood, clay or stone which serves as the container of shokser (yellow scrolls), where the termas’ symbolic scripts are written. Sometimes symbolic scripts of many terma teachings are found in one casket, and sometimes one teaching is divided among several caskets. But most frequently, one teaching is contained in a single casket. The caskets are always sealed shut and can be opened only when all auspicious conditions are gathered.
