Yangchen Drönma
Also known as Chöying Drönma, Yangchen Drönma was Déwé Dorjé Sera Khandro's first child and only daughter, and the sole child among the three offspring to reach adulthood. She spent her life accompanying her mother throughout Golok and Kham, receiving all the empowerments and teachings her mother gave. Later, Yangchen Drönma became the consort of Sönam Detsen— Drimé Özer's only son. But she tragically died in childbirth when delivering their son Do Ngak Tenpé Nyima (Doli Nyima) in 1946.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
