Yagé Gar
ya ge gar/
It is a remote, high-altitude retreat settlement in the Kham region of Eastern Tibet, nestled within a steep, shell-shaped mountain landscape in the lower Ser Valley near the village of Tsi. It was founded in the early 20th century by the eminent Tibetan Buddhist master Adzom Drukpa (1842–1924) as a place of meditation retreat in one of the most secluded corners of Tibet.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
