A son of Trepo Sangngak, the 24th Kanam Depa of Powo, Tulku Jampal Norbu (1880?-1940’s?) was recognized as the incarnation of Japhur Lama. While he could have been enthroned as the 25th Kanam Depa, he renounced this role to follow a prophecy from a dakini that he had to journey to Béyul Pémakö, and from his prophesied consort, he would father a special son. This came to be true as he met Namgyal Drolma in 1903, and soon became the father of Düdjom Jigdrel Yeshe Dorje in 1904 and later of Tulku Palden. With his wife, he established Khang Kheng, a ngakpa center in Béyuk Pemakö, and remained there until his passing.
