Taré Lhamo
ta re lha mo/
The daughter of Apang Tertön, a miraculously conceived son of Dudjom Lingpa, Taré Lhamo (1938-2003) was a renowned modern day tertön. Together with her consort, Namtrul Jikmé Püntsok, she played a vital role of inspiration and protection during the Cultural Revolution, as well as the revival of the dharma in Tibet since the 1980s. She was the first to recognize Düdjom Sangyé Pema Zhépa as an incarnation of Düdjom Jigdrel Yéshé Dorjé.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
