Tönyön Samdrub
As the second son of Machik Labdrön, Tö-nyön Sambdrub became a lineage holder of his mother’s teachings and transmissions of Chö, along his older brother Gyalwa Döndrub Tö-nyön Sambdrub is not to be confused with his older brother Gyalwa Döndrub 's grandson of the same name. This second Thönyön Samdrub became the father of a daughter named Len Tokma , who was reconized as an emanation of Machik Labdrön. Len Tokma also became instrumental in the preservation and spreading of the teaching and lineage of Chö.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
