A hermitage cave complex above Samyé Monastery, Samyé Chimpu has strong associations to Guru Rinpoché and Yéshé Tsogyel. It also a reliquary stupa of Longchenpa stands near the retreat site of the Third Karmapa Rangjung Dorjé, and where Jigmé Lingpa transcribed the Longchen Nyingtik which he had revealed earlier. Among the caves at Chimpu is Drakmar Keutsang, noted as Guru Rinpoché’s primary residence in Samyé. In late 1907 or early 1908, Tulku Drimé Özer, traveling from Tsurpu back to Golok with Déwé Dorjé, revealed his profound root terma cycle at Samyé Chimpu in an amazing spectacle, bringing forth termas for wisdom body, speech, and mind from five different caskets.
