Often called Rechungpa (1083/5-1161), Rechung Dorje Drak was one of the main disciples of Tibet’s greatest yogin, Jetsün Milarepa, under whom he studied in mountain retreats from his teens on. His biography describes his rebellious nature as well as his boundless devotion to his master. In his adulthood, he also travelled to Nepal and India to receive further teachings from Naropa’s lineage that Milarepa had not received.
