nyag bla padma bdud 'dul
Based in Nyakrong, the valley of the Nyak Chu in Kham, Nyakla Pema Dündul (1816-1872) was a famous Dzogchen master of the 19th century and a tertön who attained the rainbow body in 1872. He was recognized as an incarnation of Katok Dampa Deshek (1122-1192), the founder of Katok Dorje Den monastery. Among his two main disciples are Tertön Rangrik Dorje 1847-1903) and Lama Sönam Thayé (1816-1872).
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
