Located on the left bank of the Ser Chu, Makor is a village just south of Horshül.
During the time of Düdjom Lingpa, probably between 1890 and 1903, the local craftsman Rebkong Shérab modelled in clay two ngadramas, “Looks-like-me” statues of Düdjom Lingpa. Once completed, Rebkong Shérab invited Düdjom Lingpa to consecrate the two statues. Having blessed the two statues, Düdjom Lingpa asked them, “Are you the same as me?” And one of the two statues replied, “Yes!” The statue that had spoken was lost or destroyed during the Cultural revolution, but the other was hidden and later brought back and re-installed in its maker’s house in Makor.

Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
