"Sole Mother, Torch of Lab", Machik Labdrön (11th-12th century) was the female master who, inspired by Padampa Sangyé, initiated the Chö ("cutting through") practice lineage in Tibet—the only Tibetan-conceived practice lineage accepted in India rather than transmitted in the usual direction.

At the end of her life, Machik Labdrön settled in Zangri Kharmar, and passed away there.
