Lhachen Wangchuk Chenpo
lha chen dbang phyug chen po
The origins of Lhachen Wangchuk Chenpo trace back to India as Mahadéva, an epithet for the god Shiva.
In the Vajrayana tradition, Lhachen Wangchuk Chenpo is a direct manifestation of Chenrézig Wangchuk (Avalokiteshvara), the embodiment of the Buddha's speech and the lotus family, appearing as the king of the gods, one of the six classes of beings. According to Tsédrub Lama Tharchin, “The activity of Lhachen Wangchuk Chenpo is primarily that of magnetizing the three realms.”
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
