Katok Moktsa
kaH thog rmog tsha/
As one of the “Five golden throne holders” of Katok Dorje Den Monastery (Kham), the Katok Moktsa is an important line of tulkus. These tulkus embody the successive incarnations of Orgyen Sampal. Tulku Jikdral Chokyi Langpo, The Fourth Katok Moktsa, lived in the 19th century. Jikdral Lodrö Tenpé Gyaltsen, The Fifth Moktsa Tulku, lived from 1930 to 2022.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
