Written in sixty-eight verses, the Jinlab Öpung (A supernova of blessings) is a brief supplication prayer to the life of Düdjom Lingpa, written by himself. As is traditional for this category of text, the practice aims to stimulate the inspiration of the student, and to sustain devotion to his teacher. The Jinlab Öpung must have been composed in late 1902 or early 1903, few months before the passing of Düdjom Lingpa in December 1903. The composition was insistently requested by Ngawang Trinlé (c.1840–c.1910), a life-long student of Düdjom Lingpa.
