Horshül
Appearance
Located close to Nubzur monastery and Horshul city, on the banks of the Ser Chu, in Serta (Golok), Horshül was founded in 1484 as a Nyingma monastery. Later, it became a branch of Palyül monastery (Kham). It was around Hosrhul that Düdjom Lingpa revealed the Phurba Dechek Nyingpo, a Vajrakilaya practice cycle from his Zabsang Khandro Nyingtik terma cycle.
A few years later, Pema Degyal Rinpoche, the direct student of Düdjom Lingpa who would be the founder of the Namkha Khyung Dzong sub-tradition tradition of the Düdjom Tersar, was originally ordained there. Nowadays, Horshül houses a hundred and fifty monks.
