Gutor
dgu gtor/
Gutor (‘The nine-day Torma’) is the wrathful activity traditionally performed in the final days of the year to cleanse negativities and undesirable circumstances and to pacify illness, demonic influence, defilements and obstacles in order to start the New Year afresh with the support of freshly accumulated merit. In the Düdjom Tersar tradition, the Gutor is mostly performed based on the practices of Vajrakilaya or Dorjé Drolö.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
