Gögen Lhatang
rgod rgan lha thang/
Built in 1913 by Lhasé Sönam Norbu, a member of the Washul family, in Gögen village, the stupa of Gögen Lhatsang has become a landmark in the area. With a base approximately 100 meters long and rising 52 meters high across nine floors, it stands as the highest Tibetan Buddhist stupa in all of Sichuan Province.
Since the early 8th century, Tibetans and Himalayan people have treasured "Namtars" as written or spoken narratives that demonstrate the realization of the Buddhist path by exceptional practitioners. These namtars, or spiritual biographies, serve as inspirational guides on the path to enlightenment.
Today, Namtars Foundation aims to record, preserve, and freely offer the world a written and electronic treasury of the oral wisdom of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhism.
