Dza Paltrül Orgyen Jikmé Chökyi Wangpo
Though he mainly lived the life of a vagabond, Dza Patrul Orgyen Jikmé Chökyi Wangpo (1808-1887) was one of the most illustrious spiritual teachers of the nineteenth century in Kham and Golok. Informally recognized as the speech incarnation of Jikmé Lingpa (1730-1798)—the forefather of the Longchen Nyingtik lineage—, Dza Patrul studied for a long time with his principal teacher, Jikmé Gyalwé Nyugu (1765–1843), himself one of the foremost students of Jikmé Lingpa. From him, Dza Patrul received no less than twenty-five times the teachings on the ngöndro of the Longchen Nyingtik, as well as many other important transmissions. From time to time, Dza Paltrul would write a text of his own and these treatises were later collected into six volumes of his writings. Among them is the Kunzang Lama’i Shyalung (The Words of My Perfect Teacher).
